Address: 54 Great Jones St (between 3rd St & Bowery)

How do I get there: Take the 6, B, D, F, V to Bleecker St-Lafayette St or the F, V to 2nd Ave-Houston St

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Hilary and Bradd

What we ate: Eggs Tulum, Buttermilk Pancakes, Eggs Bohemia, Crescent City Smothered Eggs

What we thought: It’s a cute place. You will probably enjoy it.

Jenn had previously been to Great Jones Cafe for dinner, so we decided to go ahead and give it a shot for a Saturday afternoon brunch. The place is really cute and cozy- it has a Louisiana, Bourbon Street, Cajun sort of vibe, including Mardi Gras beads and festive lights.

The menu is small, with only about 8 items on it, plus a handful of specials. But, lucky for you- they are all pretty good. And at $12.95 for the entree, side and drink- also reasonably priced.

Sarah got the Eggs Tulum- scrambled eggs in a flour tortilla with black beans and sour cream, plus homefries and a biscuit. While the dish was overall quite good, the eggs lacked seasoning and the beans were a bit cold. The homefries were spicer than she cared for, but the biscuit was delicious. Be forewarned, ask for the OJ without ice.

Jenn opted for the buttermilk pancakes. While they were good, they weren’t fantastic and honestly had a bit too much sugar on top. There was some intense confusion with the waitress when Jenn requested a side of sausage. First she said it could not be served as a side, but when Jenn pointed out that it was offered as an ingredient in the omelet, the waitress agreed to serve it as a side. However, when it arrived it was a tiny portion, chopped into tiny pieces and carried a hefty $4 price tag.

Hilary went for the Crescent City Smothered Eggs- which consisted of scrambled eggs with biscuits, ham and sausage gravy. Annoyingly, since biscuits were a part of the dish, Hilary was denied the option to order an additional one on the side. The gravy was delicious and the dish was good- just be ready to commit because the gravy situation can get kind of intense. The grits were standard and were not offered with cheese.

Bradd’s Eggs Bohemia included eggs, chicken apple sausage, red pepper, spinach and cheese. Coupled with a side of homefries, it was a lot of food. Bradd felt that the dish was good, but everything was slightly too spicy.

Overall, we were satisfied. Nobody left hungry, but we also didn’t feel the need to rush back for brunch.

Dinner? Now, that is another story.

Address: 169 Sullivan St (btwn Bleecker and Houston)

How do I get there: Take the 1 to Houston St or the A, C, E, B, D, F, V to West 4th or the C, E to Spring St – 6th Ave

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Meghan

What we ate: Banana and blueberry pancakes topped with honey butter, monte cristo on toasted challah with fries, challah french toast topped with fresh berry compote with bacon, mimosa (fresh squeezed!), vodka with homemade lemonade

What we thought: Super tasty and well priced!

It would be easy to walk right past this unassuming brunch spot on a mostly residential stretch of Sullivan St. But do yourself a favor and stop by one morning, you won’t regret it. The cute front porch reminded us all of a boat dock on a river somewhere- it’s easy to forget that you are in the West Village. Now, the Ladies Who Brunch love freebies and any meal that starts off with free muffin-like corn bread is on its way to being a hit with us! Sarah had some rather epic train troubles on her way downtown, so Jenn and Meghan were able to enjoy waiting on the adorable front porch of Sullivan St Bistro while munching on these tasty morsels.

The whole restaurant has a laid-back, cozy vibe, and while it is small, everything is spaced out really well so you never feel cramped or like you’re really having brunch with the people seated next to you. The wait staff is extremely friendly and even when we were told it would still be a tiny bit of a wait for our table, they always kept us up to date and repeated the offering of drinks and snacks.

Sarah ordered the banana and blueberry pancakes, which were just as good as they look. The combination of bananas and blueberries was certainly a winning one in the taste department. The pancakes themselves were slightly mushy in the middle with a crispy outside-border, making them both tasty and well-cooked.

Jenn ordered the monte cristo sandwich and had a truly religious experience with it. The bread was perfectly toasted but not too crusty. The powdered sugar sprinkled along the top had the savory/sweet combo with the ham and swiss cheese down to a science. The ooey-gooey cheese was layered perfectly and the ham was impossible fresh tasting for deli style. It was possibly one of the best sandwiches ever. The fries were standard but also tasty.

Meghan ordered the challah french toast and raved about the sweet taste of the berry compote. The whole meal mingled well with the thick, delicious toast and never became too soggy, like french toast often can. The fresh squeezed orange juice in her mimosa was also a huge hit- it’s not very often that happens.

For the record, you can get a 10% discount if you check-in on Foursquare while here! All in all, we left Sullivan St Bistro with full bellies and a promise to bring back friends when they come in from out of town.

Address: 308-310 Bleecker St (btwn Grove and Barrow)

How do I get there: Take the 1 to Christopher St or the A, C, E, B, D, F, V to West 4th

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Bradd and Hilary

What we ate: Chicken & Waffles, Croissant French Toast, Choptank Breakfast, Smoked Trout Waldorf Salad, Cheese grits, sangria

What we thought: Totally worth another visit – delish!

The first thing we noticed about Choptank was how completely un-crowded it was. For a West Village brunch spot on a Sunday afternoon, that would typically be a warning sign. However, upon entering the restaurant, we realized that the place was gigantic and everyone was sitting out back on the gorgeous patio. It should be noted that since Choptank is known for its crab, it has an overwhelming smell of Old Bay seasoning that takes a few minutes to get used to. The decor is Chesapeake Bay inspired dining that is cozy and warm while still feeling fresh and clean. It’s such a departure from typical restaurants in the city that you almost feel transported to a small town on the coast of Maryland.

When we ordered coffee, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it comes served in personal French press pots, a real bonus for those of us who are serious about our coffee. The next pleasant surprise came when we realized that someone in the city of New York knows how to make proper cheese grits. Ah, the simple things in life…..

Sarah ordered the Choptank breakfast- cheese grits, an egg, and “scrapple”. None of us knew what it was, but our very disinterested waiter informed us that it was some sort of pork pate- good enough for us! When it was delivered, we were surprised to find the items served all together, one thing on top of the other. Not one for mixing food, Sarah tried going at it one item at a time until she realized how tasty it was all mixed together. Overall, the dish was great. The egg was properly poached, the grits properly cheesy and the scrapple perfectly….scrappled? (for the record, it tastes like sausage.)

Jenn ordered the croissant french toast and it did not disappoint. Warm apple compote combined with the flaky, fresh flavor of a croissant with just the right amount of sweetness made for a dish not to be missed. She also ordered cheese grits and once again was shocked that a Yankee restaurant can make a Southern dish so well. They were perfectly fluffy and just cheesy enough to make anyone come back for more. She also ordered the Flora sangria and let us just say, you could smell the fresh fruit flavor when the glass was set down. It was perfectly tart but smooth and the fruit flavor made it perfectly appropriate for a summer brunch on a patio.

Bradd’s chicken & waffles came in a gigantic bowl with epic proportions. The chicken was crispy , incredibly moist and well-cooked. The waffles were sweet and crunchy. It did take the disinterested waiter quite some time to bring the syrup- but the dish is served with apple butter and honey, so you really don’t need it.

Hilary got the appetizer of smoked trout waldorf salad. She didn’t say a whole l0t about it but seemed to consume it fast enough for us to think she enjoyed it. It wasn’t too fishy and just had an overall good flavor.

Having been for dinner, Jenn was a little disappointed that the normal chips and crab dip you get at night don’t come free with the brunch like they do in the evening. Overall though, this place was a hit with all of us and we’ll definitely be back for the $65 all you can eat crab!

Address: 40 E 4th St (Btwn Bowery and Lafayette)

How do I get there: Take the R, W to 8th or the 6 to Astor Place

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah

What we ate: eggs any style, mimosa, chicken quesadilla

What we thought: Come back at night.

Both of us had been to B Bar in the past, for food and for drinks. When our group brunch plans for a nearby all you can drink brunch were thwarted by the 3 hour wait, we opted for B Bar instead. What we found was decent food, at decent prices that doesn’t necessarily warrant a trip back to the East Village.

B Bar is a great space- first of all, it’s huge and has a really lovely outdoor garden. It kind of feels like a few different restaurants all under one roof. We both say to come back at night for dinner or a drink- it’s tough to beat the garden on a cool summer evening.

Sarah ordered the 2 eggs any style, which came with a side of chicken apple sausage, an english muffin and potatoes.

While everything was satisfactory, the only thing that really stood out in the whole dish was the chicken apple sausage. It was split down the middle and served with a mango chutney. The contrast between the sweetness of the mango and the sausage was definitely a winning combination. Overall, though, the dish was nothing to write home about and not something you couldn’t find at any breakfast place in town.

Jenn opted for the chicken quesadilla and a mimosa.

While the quesadilla was satisfying, it wasn’t great- it was a bit soggy through the middle and really just average at best. It had a decent amount of chicken in it but it wasn’t really worth ordering again. The OJ in the mimosa was too tart.

Honestly, come back at night for a drink- especially on cool evenings. Just get there before the NYU frat parties let out.

Address: 120 Essex St (btwn Delancey and Rivington)

How do I get there: Take the F, M, J , or Z to Delancey-Essex St, the B, D to Grand St or the F, V to 2nd Ave – Houston St.

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Beth & Caroline

What we ate: The Deep South (chicken fried steak with eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits), corned beef hash with two eggs poached soft, potato pancakes with sauteed apples and honey cream sauce and spinach shiitake black bean hash, baked eggs over ham with roasted red peppers, shiitake mushrooms and monterey jack chhese.

What we thought: Meh. Good drinks, good atmosphere – food was just so-so.

Sarah got the corned beef has and while the eggs were prepared properly, the whole dish just lacked a little something. She prefers a more authentic version of hash where everything is mixed together in a more patty-like/frittata fashion and this just was kind of a jumbled mess of potatoes and sort of stringy corned beef. Lesson learned: Corned beef hash should not be fancy.

Jenn got the chicken fried steak and the only part of the dish that was memorable was the biscuit. The sausage gravy was too salty and the chicken friend steak was just kind of gross. It also took about 15 minutes for someone to located the “jam” that they then said they ran out of but were happy to bring me some honey. By the time it got there everyone was already done with their food and the biscuit, though delicious, was cold.

Caroline got the baked eggs and again, it wasn’t anything to write home about. The cheese was melty and the ham quite tasty but overall it just didn’t mesh very well together.

Beth ordered the potato pancakes and while the potatoes were crisp, the rest of the meal was just ok. Not something she’s run back and try again.

Overall, the food was not so great – maybe average at best. We all enjoyed the seemingly bottomless cocktails, but that was about it when it comes to this place. They had another reservation waiting for our table and they politely offered us a drink ticket for the bar so they could turn over the table. I’m not one to like being kicked out of my seat but they did it with style and none of us minded all too much.

Address: 66 Pearl St (at Coenties Slip)

How do I get there: Take the R, W to Whitehall St, the 2, 3 to Wall St or the J, M, Z to Broad St.

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Meghan

What we ate: The Texan (steak & eggs with Texas toast), California BLTA, eggs benedict

What we thought: Totally skip-able.

We found ourselves downtown before the 4th annual NY Brewfest on Governor’s Island so we took it as opportunity to check for brunch options in the Financial District. Our intended target was the Urban Lobster Shack, which, much to our dismay, was mysteriously closed. This led us to Zigolini. While we were enticed by the chance to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon on Zigolini’s brick patio, the service and food left a lot to be desired.

Sarah ordered the Texan, which according to the menu is grilled skirt steak, eggs any style and Texas toast. I (naturally) ordered my eggs poached soft, so imagine my surprise when they delivered this….

While I rarely pipe up when things are cooked wrong at restaurants, I really don’t like scrambled eggs. So I told the waitress that I ordered them poached. At which point she informed me that that is “how we poach eggs here”. Naturally, I laughed at her and said that there isn’t much interpretation when it comes to poaching eggs and she refused to get them re-done for me. As a former waitress myself, I know it is possible to incorrectly input orders and that sometimes the kitchen screws up, but don’t say stupid stuff like that. Also, the Texas toast, while delicious, was covered in cheese. I happened to enjoy it, just be forewarned. Overall, my dish was only so-so. The steak was good and the toast was actually excellent, only not what it was presented as on the menu.

Jenn ordered the California BLTA, minus the avocado and tomato (which, for those keeping track is chicken, bacon, lettuce and cheese) with a side of fries. While it was good, the sandwich wasn’t a standout. The chicken was well cooked and the fries were hot.

Meghan ordered the eggs benedict. Which, inexplicably, came with poached eggs. So I suppose the waitress’s explanation of my scrambled eggs was not really a good one. The dish was average and didn’t really jump out at us. The potatoes on the side were bland and not well seasoned.

Overall, we were kind of disappointed by our brunch. The bar inside looked pretty cool and like a nice, chill place to grab a drink if you are downtown but I wouldn’t make any special trips. The food was average at best, and I hate when servers lie to cover up their own mistakes rather than offering to fix them.

You can probably skip Zigolini, but if you go, let us know how they poach the eggs.

Address: 41 St. Marks Pl (between 2nd Ave & 1st Ave)

How do I get there: Take the 6 to Astor Place, the L to 1st Ave-14th St or the R/W to 8th St-Broadway

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus Kat

What we ate: lemonade, coffee, Labana cheese with pita, banana pancakes, pumpkin pancakes, a side of Canadian bacon and a special menu item who’s name escapes us

What we thought: Good enough to warrant a trek to the East Village.

For a couple of West-siders (especially Sarah, who lives on the Upper West), a visit to the East Village is not always an easy one- especially on weekends. Train service is slow and unreliable and it can sometimes be a quite a haul. That said, Cafe Orlin is worth the trip. The wait was short, the coffee piping hot and the lemonade far exceeded Jenn’s picky lemonade expectations. We had all been here for dinner before and were excited to return for their highly-recommended brunch.

The first order of business was coffee. They seem to stick to espresso-based drinks, which was great for the coffee fans, but be forewarned that it isn’t the cheapy drip coffee you get at so many other brunch places. The lemonade came with a sprig of fresh mint and the perfect sweet/tart ratio, so already we were off to a good start.

We started with the Labana cheese and pita which, at 4 bucks, was quite a deal. The cheese, which tastes like a mix between sour cream, yogurt, oils and spices was thick and creamy- and more than enough to share. The pita was fresh and delicious. We discovered that we could create our own tiny little breakfast sandwiches by mixing the cheese, pita and Canadian bacon- do yourself a favor and try it, you won’t regret it!

Sarah’s banana pancakes were delicious and really hit the spot. They were thick and fluffy with slightly crisp edges and the perfect amount of bananas. Not one to load up on carbs for brunch, a side of Canadian bacon was also in order. For $2.50, that side included 3 thick slices- quite a steal by Manhattan standards.

Jenn’s pumpkin pancakes were good, but not great. The yogurt sauce on top was a bit overwhelming and slightly too sweet. The pancakes themselves were not the best pumpkin pancakes available in the city (in the fall, check out Good Enough to Eat for their pumpkin french toast. You can thank us later) and she found that she was unable to eat the entire plate.

Kat was adventurous and went for one of the daily specials. While the name escapes all of us, the dish was a real winner. Ordered on the waitresses recommendation, the fried dough topped with a sunny side up egg was perfect for someone who may have had just a little too much red wine the night before.

While the wait was quick, the service was beyond slow. It took about 10 minutes for drinks and at least a half an hour to get any food. When we were done eating it took another 10 minutes just to get our check. Don’t let that deter you, though- come to Cafe Orlin for brunch or dinner, they are both real treats.

Just don’t do it if you are in a hurry.

Address: Madison Square Park (Madison Ave btwn 23rd and 26th St)

How do I get there: Take the 6 or the N/R to 23rd St.

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, plus way too many other people to blog for

What we ate: 17th St Bar and Grill (baby back ribs and beans) and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint (Western Tennessee style whole hog with sweet pickles)

What we thought: Delicious food coma, party of two.

This weekend, the Ladies Who Brunch headed out for the 8th Annual Big Apple BBQ festival at Madison Square Park. Our friend Brad put it best… brunch doesn’t usually consist of several plates of pork before noon but in this case – it was a definite winner! As Southern girls who attended this feast last year, we arrived at Madison Square Park fully ready to strategically choose our BBQ plates. Last year we chose based on a point system of hotness of the pitmaster as well as where the person was from… this year Joe (a fellow meat lover) proposed a much better strategy – pick the guy who looks like his BBQ is so good that he has to eat it EVERY DAY. Trust us on this- it was a perfect strategy.

First stop was 17th St Bar and Grill which feature Pitmaster Mike Mills of “Memphis Championship BBQ” for some baby back ribs. These suckers were moist, tender and practically fell off the bone. The flavor was on the sweet BBQ side, which is the side we tend to like best, so that suited us just fine. For a baby back, there was a LOT of meat . The beans were a hit all around with pretty much everyone, even those who normally don’t love beans. Great smokey flavor, great texture and multiple types of beans made for an interesting and tasty side dish.

After letting the first plate settle in for all of three seconds, we grabbed a fast pass and headed over to Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint with Pitmaster Patrick Martin from Nashville, TN. We’d heard from more than one person that whole hog BBQ tends to be better than just standard pulled pork. When you get whole hog, you get a sampling of flavors from the entire pig. Different parts have a different flavor and texture that when blended, makes for an ideal pork experience. This proved true with the MOST DELICIOUS pork sandwich we’ve ever encountered. The pork was laid out over a standard bun with crunchy coleslaw with only a light dressing added on top. There was a BBQ-like sauce that had a nice kick to it also mingled throughout the overall sandwich experience and let me tell you – this sandwich ROCKED our world. It was moan out loud good and I think a trip to Tennessee has to be in order sometime soon just to enjoy this sandwich again sometime soon.

As a side note – our friend Joe made this face while chowing down on some ribs – this is how really good BBQ makes you feel territorial about your food.

Overall, we’re already thoroughly looking forward to next year! If you have never attended, we suggest you mark your calendar and check it out next year. There are select few legit BBQ places in NYC and having the best of the best come to your backyard in NYC is such a treat.

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah

What we ate: Fried chicken on a biscuit, grape soda, scrambled eggs with swiss, biscuit and jam, benginets

What we thought: Totally worth the trip.

When we decided to attend a street festival on the Lower East Side (more on that later), we went for something close by to make the trip easier. Little did we know what we were in for.

It is a well-documented fact that these southern girls expect a lot out of their breakfast food. So imagine our slight trepidation surrounding a trip to a Cajun place on the Lower East Side of Manhattan run by a lanky, tattooed Asian dude. Shoved in between tenement buildings, laundry places and Chinese junk shops lies Cheeky Sandwiches, a hidden gem on the LES. Finding the place is tough- look for the blue door and the number 35- otherwise, you will likely walk right past. The tiny sliver of a restaurant is really just a glorified hallway with narrow counter space and low, colorful piano stools to sit on. You order from the aforementioned tattooed Asian guy, who, along with the other man behind the counter, cooks your food in the “kitchen” (which is really just a grill along the wall). A few minutes later, they bring your food out wrapped in white paper. No plates, no silverware. But lots and lots of flavor.

Coming from a loud and proud Cajun lineage, I (Sarah) have never had much appreciation for “Cajun” cuisine. It is often done wrong, with ample spices replacing true flavor and “homemade” stuff tasting like it came from a can. I (Jenn) have also attended many a “cajun” brunch, lunch, and Mardi-Gras party where faux-Cajun food is served and passed off as authentic – we can happily say that this is not the case at Cheeky’s.

The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside- very closely rivaling our grandma’s (a sentence we have NEVER uttered). The chicken is served on a homemade biscuit that melts in your mouth and topped with just the right amount of white gravy, that ends up serving more as a condiment rather than being poured all over the sandwich. The biscuit is flaky perfection – not too savory, not too sweet- but a just right combo of buttery goodness. These truly tasted like golden little pieces of home sweet home.

While it was not mentioned on the menu, the scrambled eggs also come served on a biscuit with just the right amount of kick to make them interesting.

The sweet jam on the biscuit was a perfect finish to the delicious breakfast sandwiches and could easily serve as a desert. That is, if you foolishly pass on the benginets- piping hot and coated in powdered sugar, they were a delicious finish to an already outstanding breakfast.

One of these days we will have to take a trip back to sample the po-boys and muffalettas, with a side of Zapp’s potato chips and fruity soda brought specially from New Orleans. But until then, just bask in the glow of knowing where to find amazing chicken and biscuits if the mood strikes.

A small side note. The Ladies Who Brunch have declared this summer as the time to take advantage of this amazing city we are lucky enough to call home by checking out street fairs and other free stuff that goes on here in the summer months. Sunday, this meant a trip to the Eldridge Street Synagogue for their annual Egg Rolls and Egg Creams street fair. This free annual event was a wonderful way to celebrate the unique blending of cultures in a beautiful old synagogue set in the middle of China Town. We sampled the egg creams, made hallah bread and took in lectures by synagogue staff. If you find yourself in New York for the festival next year, you should check it out! If not, head down to Eldridge Street anyway for a tour, it’s totally worth the trip.

On your way, pop in to Cheeky Sandwiches for some fried chicken. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Address: 475 W Broadway (between Grand St & Broome St)

How do I get there: Take the J, M, Z, N, Q, R, W, 6 to Canal; the A, C, E to Church or the 1 to Varick

The guest list: Jenn & Sarah, Christy who was in town from Miami, Beth, Joe, Meghan, Hilary, Arnab and Kat

What we ate: steak and eggs, machacado breakfast tacos, Mexican eggs benedict, smoked salmon & avocado benedict, Dos Caminos rancheros, fresh guacamole, white wine sangira

What we thought: Mexican for brunch? Absolutely.

In honor of Christy’s visit and in order to make up for our 2 missed weeks of brunching (Sarah was attending weddings of family and friends), we decided to make the weekend a brunch double-header.

Our trip to Dos Caminos was by far our biggest and most ambitious brunch group yet, with 9 very hungry friends. It should be noted that a lot of brunch spots in New York can’t really accommodate groups this large, so prior planning is crucial. That said, you should consider Dos Caminos in your large-group brunching expeditions. We arrived on time for our reservations and promptly seated at a large, comfortable table under a sky light that nicely brightened up the entire restaurant.

We started off the meal with the fresh guacamole. The waitress suggested 2 double orders for our table of 9, but at a staggering 22 bucks an order we decided to just start with 1. Which proved to be a good decision because, while it was tasty, it was a LOT of guac. Dos Caminos makes it fresh to order and the guacamole fans among us were very pleased with the quality of it.

Each brunch dish came with one hot drink (coffee or tea) and one breakfast cocktail (frozen prickly pear, frozen margarita, bloody mary, screw driver, mimosa or champagne). While the mimosas were pretty run of the mill, the prickly pears were quite strong and well-received.

And on to the food…..We should start by saying that all of us were very satisfied with our food. Especially coming off of our trip to Paradou the day before, where the food was nothing special and not entirely filling. The portions at Dos Caminos were large, tasty and well worth the price.

Jenn and Sarah both went for the breakfast tacos, which were incredibly tasty. The beef, eggs, salsa and cheese all mixed together perfectly and were well seasoned without being overwhelming. The accompanying beans and rice were the sort of average beans and rice that you can find in any Mexican place. Decent, but not terrific.

Christy and Joe both opted for the steak and eggs. A fairly standard brunch option that Dos Caminos did right. The steak was well-seasoned and cooked just right. The steak and eggs were accompanied by potatoes and a gigantic flour tortilla, meaning that neither Joe or Christy left hungry.

Hilary’s salmon & avocado benedict really hit the spot. The eggs were well-cooked and all the flavors mixed together perfectly. The gem of the plate was the delicious corn bread that everything was served on top of. Just like our affinity for good cheese grits, these southern girls take their corn bread seriously. Dos Caminos serves theirs with just the right hint of sweetness.

Meghan opted for the the Mexican eggs benedict. Served on top of warm jalapeño-cheddar biscuits, the chorizo gravy was full of flavor and a welcomed change from traditional hollandaise sauce. While the nopales was difficult to taste, the flavors of the rest of the dish more than made up for it. The well-poached eggs and excellent potatoes rounded out this tasty option. Be forewarned- it’s filling, so try not to overload on chips beforehand!

Beth’s Dos Caminos Rancheros also really hit the spot. The dish is composed of crisp tortillas, fried eggs, refried pinto beans, smoked ham and queso fresco. It arrived hot and delicious- with all the flavors blending together nicely.

And let’s not forget about the sangria…. The white wine sangria was certainly a treat! Summery and sweet without being over-bearing, the fruit was fresh and lent the entire pitcher a lovely, citrusy flavor. This is a must-have at Dos Caminos.

Overall, we were all pleased with our visit to Dos Caminos. While a Mexican place might not seem like the perfect brunch locale, do yourself a favor and don’t overlook it. Come on a day where you can sit on the patio and enjoy their sangria. You won’t regret it.
